Just a few minutes walk away from Silom/Patpong is the Suan Lum night bazaar- altogether a different market. It flocks with traditional-style shops rather than market stalls. A bit more difficult to get a bargain here and that is reflected in the better quality of the goods. A little bargaining may be tolerated.
You will find a lot of fine art and hand crafted furniture, as well as object diart in this market. It is profoundly pleasant to browse the shops and their products.
Suan Lum opens at 6 p.m. and closes at midnight. Besides the shops, there are many restaurants and cafes, and a massive beer garden with live bands. The Joe Louise Puppet Theatre is not to be missed - offering nightly shows of traditional Thai puppetry. The kids will love it and adults find it fascinating.
